Team Collett Conquer the London Marathon!

With Nooteboom Special Trailers and MAN Truck & Bus supporting them all the way, David and Sam Collett completed the 2018 London Marathon!

Team Collett Take on the London Marathon!

On 22nd April 2018, a father and son ‘Dream Team’ took on the London Marathon. It was officially the hottest on record with temperatures reaching 24.1C but both David and Sam finished the Marathon in one piece! David with a time of 4hrs:30mins:59secs and Sam crossing the finish line in 3hrs:43mins:23secs. Massive congratulations to both of them and a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored them, if you'd still like to then please follow the just giving link below!

"We ran the marathon to raise money for The Breast Cancer Haven, a charity close to our hearts.  The Haven is an awesome charity that delivers a wide range of complimentary therapies, information, advice and classes, all designed to offer relief to breast cancer patients and their families. The main reason we believe The Haven is so special is that it allows people to feel relief now. We've been inspired to raise as much money as possible, having seen first-hand the hugely positive impact that The Haven has on brave women fighting cancer, one of whom is our wife/mum. Debs has been fighting her inoperable progressive secondary cancer for four years and The Haven helps to feed in to a positive mental attitude that is essential to battle cancer on a daily basis."

David Completes the Blackpool Half Marathon

Having been in training for months, the Collett Dream Team had already racked up some miles after taking on the Keighley 10K in March.  The race follows a circular route through the paths, parks and roads of Keighley, Sam finishing in 42:47 with David not far behind crossing the line at 49:47.

As part of his 16 week training program, David also completed his first half marathon this year, the 29th Great North West Half Marathon.  A fast and flat course around the coastal front of Blackpool, a great race for a PB and an ideal warm up race for the Virgin London Marathon.  David completed the half marathon as part of the Northowram Pumas Running Club in a fantastic time of 01:51:11!

David has been a semi-regular Parkrun member for a couple of years at Halifax Parkrun, a 5K circular run which takes place every Saturday morning at Shroggs Park, Halifax, which is a far cry from the 42 kilometres (26.2 miles) of a marathon.  However, more recently David has taken up a more regular exercise regime by joining the Northowram Pumas Running Club in November last year. Through the Club, David has found a great motivation to push himself further, even through the dark cold winter nights, but is now looking forward to some club running in the warm lighter evenings.

David said "I'm so grateful for the generous sponsorship of The Havens running shirts from MAN Truck & Bus and Nooteboom Special Trailers for our London Marathon challenge. It was one of the most exciting (and painful!) events that I’ve been involved with but worth all the effort when I see the level of support that we’ve received.  There's still time to help us with our fundraising and donate towards this fantastic charity, so please, collect together as much loose change, beer tokens and stray buttons as you can find and give generously to a truly brilliant cause. All donations are welcome and can be made through our Just Giving page, and thank you so much for your support, it genuinely will make a difference."
