Freight & Ancillary Charges

Marine - Ports & Stevedoring - Chartering - Ship's Agency - Heavy Lift Storage

All sea carriers adopt different standards and procedures, but in general terms here are the following elements considered when we calculate the cost for both importing and exporting international cargo and freight.

  • Collection from exporter/shipper
  • Terminal handling cost to load, to consolidation or international carrying mode
  • Export/European Union documentation
  • Insurance of goods while in transit
  • International freight
  • Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF)
  • Currency Adjustment Factor (CAF)
  • Special surcharges such as canal charges etc.
  • Terminal handling/unloading at destination
  • Load On, Load Off charges (Lo-Lo) when merchant carriage is used
  • Import/European Union documentation
  • Duty and taxes – where applicable
  • Delivery to importer/receiver of cargo
  • Demurrage or rent charges for delays involved, paid by who causes the delay
  • VAT on charges incurred on intra-European Union movements

All of the above will be explained by your dedicated Shipping Manager at point of order.
