Undertaking the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Abnormal Loads (Escort Driver) ensures that escort personnel are sufficiently competent to undertake the task of escorting abnormal loads or abnormal load vehicles and will cover:

• Driver & vehicle legislative requirements.
• Current Codes of Practice & industry best practices.
• How to prepare the escort vehicle(s), check the condition of transport vehicles & loads and how to brief all personnel before departure.
• The appropriate positioning of the vehicles on the road, effective communication and how to respond to unexpected situations.
• Post-operative checks & movement reports.

The City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate of Competence in Abnormal Loads (Escort Manager) is targeted towards experienced escort drivers who wish to prepare for and/or understand the role and responsibilities of managing an abnormal load and will cover:

• Driver & vehicle legislative requirements.
• Driver & vehicle Codes of Practice.
• The roles and responsibilities of all parties involved & the documentation relating to abnormal load movements.
• Planning, briefing and effective communication.
• Vehicle preparation, checks and managing vehicles & traffic.
• Responding to unexpected situations and managing the closure of abnormal load movements.

Both of these NEW Nationally Recognised qualifications will be available soon at our Halifax Head Office Training Centre.
